Meet this magnificent 31-inch Antique Kestner Doll #18, a rare and impressive German bisque doll with a beautiful antique presence and a wonderful early body. Large Kestner dolls of this size, especially on an early body, are becoming very hard to find, and this girl has such a graceful, soulful expression.

She has a lovely bisque socket head, marked Kestner #18, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines noted. Her large antique brown sleep eyes are truly beautiful and have a preserved working mechanism — they open and close smoothly. Her open mouth has teeth that are cut directly into the bisque, which is a special feature often associated with a transitional Kestner model, between the earlier closed-mouth dolls and later Kestner dolls with milk-glass teeth.

She is on a very early composition body in good antique condition. The body has good stringing and holds poses nicely. There are small signs of old repair, shown in the photos, but overall the body presents beautifully. Her fingers and toes are intact, and the red accent details on her hands and feet are still present.

She wears an antique black human-hair wig. The hair is soft, slightly wavy, and beautifully suits her face.

She is dressed in a wonderful antique outfit in excellent display condition. Her clothing includes two antique batiste and lace undergarments, plus a beautiful antique white batiste dress with lace details. There are a few tiny breaks in the lace on the dress, but they are very minor and hardly noticeable. All clothing has been carefully washed and has no unpleasant odors.

Her outfit is completed with antique white cotton stockings, pink patent leather shoes decorated with bronze-tone buttons, and an antique brass brooch with a mother-of-pearl insert. The shoes are newly made using an antique pattern.
